“A man finds himself, to his great astonishment, suddenly existing, after thousands and thousands of years of non-existence: he lives for a little while, and then, again, comes an equally long period when he must exist no more. The heart rebels against this and feels that it cannot be true.”

-Arthur Schopenhauer, The Vanity of Existence.

I first read The Vanity of Existence in my first year, 4 years ago, and it completely changed my life. This is where my passion for philosophy began, and I still read the 3 short pages often. I recommend it to anyone who is brave enough to challenge themselves with pondering the meaning of life.
