This is probably one of the coolest projects I have ever seen. It looks too easy… I tip my hat to unsimpleliving.
Here are the photo’s of how they did it, for full instructions click here.

I love Wes Anderson films, especially the colors. I was lucky enough to find Paper Sparrow, where the author, Andrea, posted this Life Aquatic shadow box.

She also made a Darjeeling Limited train case.

Narrowboat, seamless background swatches.

From Mels Brushes, great design resource for free stock vectors, brushes, patterns, projects, textures and general inspiration.

Free paper doll to print and play with.

Perfect idea for Pretoria afternoons, Watermelon lemonade, from Sea Blanket.

You need: 2 lemons, 1 watermelon, a big pitcher and a can of lemonade and water.

“Begin by cutting up your watermelon into 2” chunks and tossing them into a blender. Add can of lemonade and water, then blend on the “puree” setting. After all is blended, pour into a pitcher and add 2 sliced lemons into the mix for aesthetic pleasure. Serve in cute little glasses or mason jars, even add sugar to the rims for an additional kick. (*this lemonade can also be made with 2 cups vodka or 2 cups gin for added fun!)”

I think these are great toys for exercising creativity or just playing! They are completely customizable and there are galleries available of the various designs submitted by owners.

This first toy is available at an excellent Designer toy store, myplasticheart.

The second, and my favorite can be bought at PlushForm, the website offers tutorials and an entire community where you can view different designs.

It’s time for a fresh new calendar. I make a ritual out of making my own calendars, and for me it is process where I think about the days to come and visualize all the good vibes I want to feel every one of those days.

I also like to know my schedule at a glance, since I struggle to stay organized, I try to sort out all those irritating admin bugs at once.
Another perk is always having something to look forward to. I underline, highlight, encircle and bedazzle important and fun dates so I always know where they are and I always immediately know the next date to be excited about when one has passed.

So here’s a cute calendar you can print and make at home while contemplating your year ahead.

my monster jar

I’ve been teaching myself to work with Corel X4, and this is my very first finished product. (In other words be gentle, I’m still learning, I know the design is basic.) The backgrounds I used for the postcards I got from the Design Inspiration website. I’d been experimenting with the ideas for these postcards for a while and I’d like to thank my friends and family who kindly smiled at the cut and pasted version! 🙂

The first postcard is called: mymonsterjar. You draw your personal or current monster (you know, that thing that nags at you or holds you back) in the jar, trapping it there FOREVER, and then you send it far away to a friend to neglect, torture or destroy.

The next postcard is mysecretsjar. Since postcards can be sent anonymously, you can send someone something you’ve always wanted to tell them without blushing.

And the last one, the brokenpromisesjar is aimed at the brokenhearted. If he moved in with her, took your only corkscrew and left his dirty dishes, this one’s for you.

I thought this elephant was entirely delightful! It’s always fun to create something so surreal it tickles. I found it on How About Orange. And here are the instructions.

Calling myself a cat person is an understatement. If I had my way and my landlord would allow it I would have seven cats and love them all day, everyday. But for now I am content with my little black cat named Sabbath. When I took her she had been badly neglected and had developed sores on her body. She also loses her hair when she’s stressed, shame, she looked terrible.

One of the sores on Sabbath's back when I found her.

But I had no problem loving her back to her shiny lovable self and now she is the friendliest sweetest cat you’ll ever meet. I couldn’t resist letting her have one litter before we had her fixed. All the kittens went to homes of friends or family.

The sad thing is that because my cat is such a pretty BLACK cat and because she is so friendly, I have to keep her indoors around Halloween time. Unfortunately there are sickos who would steal and actually hurt such a cute thing! Then there are people who believe just coming across her would bring bad luck, well out of personal experience I can refute that claim. She has brought me nothing but luck and joy and maybe the odd playful scratch.

If by now you are a nice shade of green jealousy, you can have your own lucky black cat. Canon has a very cool site called Creative Park. Where they share a lot of intricate paper crafts. If you chose to you can reconstruct an entire Japanese temple! Or you can fold your own lucky black cat!
